I've recently been blessed with adding a key-activated parking gate to the multitude of locks that I encounter each day.

Here's the kicker: the key to activate the gate is on my keychain with the key to my truck ignition. So I'd have to pull up to the gate, roll down my window, put the truck in park, shut off the truck, pull the keys from the ignition, activate the gate, start the truck back up, roll up the window, pull into the parking lot. A couple days of that and I got a quick-disconnect that breaks my keychain into personal and work, so I can streamline the process. Now I just have to make sure I always remember to join the two halves back together so I don't walk off and leave half behind!

I see that Boris Johnson, the new London Mayor wants Latin to be taught in all London schools. However I would prefer Esperanto on the basis that it helps all language learning.

Five British schools have introduced Esperanto in order to test its propaedeutic values. The pilot project is being monitored by the University of Manchester and the initial encouraging results can be seen at http://www.springboard2languages.org/Summary%20of%20evaluation,%20S2L%20Phase%201.pdf
You might also like to see http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8837438938991452670

Pope Gregrory also used this language this year in his Urbi et Orbi address from the Vatican, at Christmas.

If you have time can I ask you to visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YHALnLV9XU and a glimpse of Esperanto can be seen at http://www.lernu.net

I remember trying to drive hogs down the hill where our grandparents lived. Hogs pretty much will NOT walk down a hill. They'll insist on walking side to side to keep the slope very gradual. I think it's something about not wanting to have their head below their back feet.

Another interesting pig fact: pigs cannot turn their head sideways. Up and down, back and forth, but no twisting motion. It's claimed that because a pig cannot bite you if you keep your limbs vertical. They will, however, try to gore you with their tusks (if they have them) or get you down on the ground where they can have a better chance at getting a nice bite. Not that this happens much, as pigs are fairly docile unless you make them mad. :)

Hi Brandon,

That's great, I know people will be excited to hear a marriage will be taking place at St. Rose. There have already been three baptisms that I know of, too.

If you go to www.saintrosequincy.org, we have a photo gallery there now, with nearly all the pictures I have so far, but more should be coming.

Capacity-wise, I've been told it seats about 300, but I think you could squeeze more in than that. We had 240 at the first High Mass, and there was quite a bit of room left.

My fiance and I are currently scheduled to get married in this church this summer as she is originally from the Quincy area. I am from the Washington, MO area and would like to know if anyone has anymore interior pictures of this church. They pictures that are posted look great, but I'm looking for pictures that give me a sense of size inside as well as pictures of the alter.

Thanks for any responses and help!

Well, I have attended some of the masses in that most beautiful church, how rare is the moment to see so much beauty, so much reverence at mass again. I was talking to a lady after mass on Sunday, and she said they still wonder how Mr.Geers got this whole thing together, one person who started this and got so many people together. I found out he does not even live in Quincy! then I said , "why did he do this?" she said he loves the Latin Mass and that this was his home parish and was always the most beautiful church and wanted the Latin Mass there. She also said, that he only had one meeting with the local Bishop, and then he had to contact the Superior General of the Fraternity to come to Quincy. Mr. Geers, said it was alot of prayers that got this to Quincy and he was also praying to Msgr. Fox, a longtime former pastor there in helping him.

What great prayer, and Thank you Mr. Geers for thinking of Quincy. We need this!!

What's really sad is that 10 years ago I'd have assumed that site to be a joke. Now I'm older, wiser, more jaded, and know that a certain percentage of humanity is on a runaway train straight to you-know-where.

What you'll witness at this site is a fairly recent creation of the socially progressive - the "metro-sexual". When I first heard about metro-sexuals, I understood the term to mean guys that were more concerned than usual about their personal appearance. You know, using special hair-care products with various fruits and berries mixed in.

What I've learned since is that the initial definition of metro-sexual was just a stepping-stone to reality. It's really a cover for guys who want to be girls. They want to smell like girls, dress like girls, and feel like girls. A metrosexual is one-step shy of being a pre-operative transexual.
